Wool Journey

Take a trip to Shetland this summer with our latest Pom Pom Press offering, Wool Journey: Shetland.

We’re proud to present this adventure by Jaime and Amber of Fancy Tiger Crafts, Malia Mae Joseph and Stephen West of Stephen & Penelope. Along with Ysolda Teague this group of yarn loving, knitting-aficionado friends took a trip to Shetland, and brought back a wealth of inspiration and knowledge.

Out of this woolly adventure came a beautiful book that explores the knitting community and culture from the Shetland Islands. It’s part travel guide, part travel book, and of course features 5 patterns inspired by and knit in Shetland yarns.

Interpretations

This series follows the journey of two friends from opposite sides of the world combining their love of their countries (Argentina and Finland) and beautiful knitwear. Volume 1 marked the beginning of an entirely new approach to designing, and their dream project has evolved to include four beautiful volumes, all available in print!

Each volume includes six themes: six words with two designs inspired by each word, showing a personal take on each of these themes. These lovely books are destined to become collectors items, not to mention beautiful resources of patterns that you’re going to want to come back to time and again.

Earlier issues of this magazine are currently on sale (#5 and earlier) and only current stocks. No back orders available.

Knitting outside the Box – Bristol Ivy

Grab your knitting needles and take a peek into the mind of one of the knitting world’s most innovative designers with Knitting Outside the Box by Bristol Ivy.

You’ll know Bristol’s classic tailoring and innovative techniques from her patterns and Pom Pom Press is thrilled to bring you her first book. Originating from her workshop of the same name that she has been teaching and developing for four years, this exceeds the standard of the traditional pattern book.

Part pattern book and part insight into the design process, Knitting Outside the Box guides the reader (and knitter) through the creative approaches  Bristol uses as a designer to explore and push the endless possibilities of knitting. The book includes a comprehensive stitch dictionary which provides technical information on how to shape and manipulate fabric, and concludes by bringing all the methods together to help the reader evolve an idea into a finished pattern.

Knitting Outside the Box features 15 garment and accessory patterns using yarns from a variety of yarn producers

Knitting outside the Box – Drape and Fold

Introducing the six stunning designs from the new Bristol Ivy book! Bristol revisits her ethos that ‘knitting has traditions, but doesn’t have rules,’ with patterns that twist and turn conventional construction techniques.

The follow-up collection to her 2017 title Knitting Outside Box, this complementary edition of six knitting patterns delves deeper into innovative ways of working with knitted fabric by exploring drape and fold. Garments and accessories are reimagined with Bristol’s signature style, expanding the boundaries of how knitwear can be constructed and sit on the body. All accompanied by her encouraging and inspiring voice, giving knitters foundations to explore on their own.
